Laboratory houseboat<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The \"Halmyris\" laboratory houseboat was donated to GeoEcoMar by the Ministry of Defence in 1996. It is stationed by the Sf. Gheorghe Branch in Murighiol (Uzlina), Tulcea County.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>

Scientific facilities and construction<\/strong><\/h2>\n

\u00a0<\/strong>The houseboat was built in 1951. The houseboat body structure was initially made of ship steel. During the transformation process from a navy ship into a laboratory (period 1996-1998), its structure became a mixed one, as a result of the use of the welded joint process during the works. \u201eHalmyris\u201d was fully upgraded in 2016.<\/p>\n

Following the transformation works, Halmyris hosts a multifunctional laboratory on board (biology, geochemistry, sedimentology) and is equipped with an electric generator and an air conditioning system.<\/p>\n

The laboratory pontoon has 8 cabins with own bathrooms\u00a0 <\/span>that can host 14 staff, a multifunctional mess (study \/ dining table), a kitchen and motor boats.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>
