STRATEGY CCUS: Strategic planning of Regions and Territories in Europe for low-carbon energy and industry through CCUS Coordination and Support Action
Acronim: STRATEGY CCUS
STRATEGY CCUS is a three-year project supporting the development of carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS), a technology of great importance in the transition to a zero-carbon future. The project focuses on eight regions of Europe identified as promising for CCUS. These regions are located in seven countries and are responsible for almost 45% of industrial and energy-related CO2 emissions in Europe. The 8 regions are: the Paris and Rhone basin (France), the Ebro basin (Spain), the Lusitanian basin (Portugal), Northern Croatia, Upper Silesia (Poland), Western Macedonia (Greece) and the Galați region (Romania).
- Creating local development plans and business models for each of the 8 regions, which will be presented to the stakeholders at customized events, including to the potential CCUS developers;
- Identifying CO2 transport corridors between the local CCUS industrial clusters, connecting it to the North Sea CCUS infrastructure in order to reduce costs and to contribute to a European-wide CCUS infrastructure;
- Development of methodologies and examples of good practices in the field, involvement and training of stakeholders, life cycle assessment for CCUS chains and technical-economic assessments.
