A team of GeoEcoMar researchers participated, between 9-11 September 2026, at the XXIIIth edition of the Congress of the Carpatho-Balkan Geological Association (CBGA), a scientific event that takes place every four years. The Congress, which was hosted by the Babes-Bolyai University of Cluj-Napoca, is an important international scientific event dedicated to geological research and academic dialogue. It brought together researchers and specialists in geology, in an extensive program of presentations and debates dedicated to topics such as tectonics, volcanism, geochronology and geological evolution of the Carpathian and Balkan region. GeoEcoMar was a partner in organizing this event.
Scientific Director Mihaela Melinte Dobrinescu led, together with researcher Dan Palcu-Rolier, the Paratethys session, several researchers from GeoEcoMar giving presentations. Romania is a founding member of the Carpatho-Blacanice Association, which was founded in 1922, and the last CBGA congress was held in Romania in 1981.
