PN23300301 – Innovative system for managing the dynamics of the Romanian Black Sea coast by integrating direct measurements, numerical modeling, and remote sensing, creating the “Digital Twin” of the Romanian Coastal Zone
Acronim: GEOMARDIGITAL
- Establish a plan to coordinate geomorphological measurements of the coastal area (emerse and submerse) with the collection of remote sensing data (satellites, drones).
- Establish a new Grid for numerical modeling of hydrodynamics on the Romanian Black Sea coast, given the significant morphological changes of the southern coastal area, resulting from the restoration, expansion and elevation of the beaches through artificial nourishment.
- Establish a system to integrate measurements data with the numerical model data by creating a database and associated metadata to facilitate the collection, storage and access of data in accordance with FAIR principles.
- Perform seasonal field measurements (geomorphology, bathymetry and sedimentology) to analyse the short-term dynamics of the Romanian Black Sea coast, including seasonal variations in specific beach sectors.
- Create the first “Digital Twin” dedicated to the Romanian Black Sea coast which will integrate data from direct measurements, remote sensing and updated numerical models in accordance with Open Access and FAIR policies.. This integration will reflect significant changes to the Romanian coastline, resulting from direct restoration interventions.
- Identify and update areas along the Romanian coastline thare are susceptible to marine natural hazards, as well as those suitable for the development of Blue Economy activities. These will be integral components of the “Digital Twin” functions.
