Review of the management plan and regulations of DDBR

Acronim:

The general objective of the project is to review the Management Plan and regulations of the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve, a protected natural area, Natura 2000 site, to increase the degree of protection and conservation of biodiversity. 

  • Inventory and mapping of wild species of community interest with a view to determining measures to maintain/improve the conservation status of species and habitats of community importance in the DDBR by making 312 maps on the distribution and conservation status of species and habitats (ROSCI0065- habitats:29, plants:5, mammals:7, fish:15, amphibians:5, invertebrates:9, ROSCI0066-habitat:4, mammals:2, fish:5, mammals:5, mammals:5, mammals feeding habitats sturgeons/scrumbs:5, ROSPA0031-birds:226);
  • Updating the geospatial database of the DDBR with the results of the inventory and mapping of wild species of community interest (312 maps);
  • Conducting a socio-economic study to assess the anthropogenic pressures and threats and the relationship between communities and protected areas;
  • Increasing awareness, education and involvement of communities regarding the protection of the Danube Delta’s biodiversity by organizing 3 seminars/conferences, 3 annual DDBR Day events, 10 public debates, 3 distinct public debates regarding the environmental procedure, advertising materials as well as updating the institution’s website to ensure a better transparency in the decision-making and a correct information as well;
  • Implementation of the action plan necessary to protect the biodiversity of the Danube Delta for the next 10 years;
  • Reviewing the monitoring plan for species and habitats in the DDBR by developing studies for monitoring and assessing the conservation status of species and habitats of community importance and establishing measures to maintain/improve the favorable conservation status of species and habitats within the protected natural areas targeted by the project;
  • Review of the DDBR Operating Regulations;
  • Strengthening the administrative capacity of the DDRB by purchasing equipment necessary for monitoring and carrying out biodiversity protection activities.
