Acronym: GEOBIOECOMAR

The project aimed at documenting and creating a database of the geological and paleontological sites on the territory of Romania’s major geotectonic units by selecting the most representative sites for the assessment of the geo-diversity values ​​through geological audit.

  • Analysis of the geo-diversity values from the most representative geological and paleontological reserves in Romania and development of an unitary geo-preservation strategy;
  • Documenting and carrying out of the database of geological and paleontological sites on the territory of the major geotectonic units of Romania; selecting the most representative sites for the assessment of geo-diversity values by geological audit;
  • Field campaigns to evaluate the geological heritage of the Moldavian Platform and the Scythian Platform (natural reserves of paleontological interest, natural reserves of geological and mixed type) and the geological heritage of the Moesian Platform – the part west of the Danube (natural reserves of paleontological type and natural reserves of geological and mixed type).
