RISES-AM: Responses to coastal climate change: Innovative Strategies for high End Scenarios -Adaptation and Mitigation
The project aimed to study the impact of climate change on the coasts, in the conditions of some RCP (Representative Concentration Pathways) scenarios regarding the maximum allowable concentrations of greenhouse gases, taking into account the changes in land use and SSP (Shared Socio-economic Pathways) and the socio-economic evolution of the population under certain conditions of the resource use. The project was carried out in accordance with the platform adopted by the scientific community for the study of climate change. Among the case studies approached is the Danube Delta coast. The main objective of the project was to establish climate change adaptation strategies, depending on the characteristics of the study areas.
-
Establishing the climate change adaptation options, methods and models for analyzing the impact of the climate scenarios;
-
Carrying out physical projections at regional scale for sea level rise, storm conditions, sea level rise due to wind action, wave distribution under the conditions of the analyzed RCP scenarios;
-
Assessing the impacts of the scenarios considered while maintaining the current activities for each study area;
-
Assessing the impacts of the scenarios considered in the context of the adaptation strategies, at various scales (global, regional, local) and for each study area;
-
Assessing the consequences of applying the adaptation strategies from a socio-economic point of view, at various scales (global, regional, local);
