PN16450102 – Danube River: morpho-sedimentological evolution and complex, qualitative and quantitative assessment of the geo-ecological changes that occur under the influence of the climate change and anthropogenic impact

Acronim: DELMAR

The project aimed to apply a complex investigation methodology to the Romanian sector of the Danube, in order to substantiate specific studies: river – tributary river and, respectively, river – sea confluences, the area with islands, the area with meanders and the area with a branched course, including rectifications, the area with arms ephemerally fed by the river, etc.;

  • Obtaining new data from measurements made in the water column (water flows and sediments transported by the river, in suspension) and from the solid substrate of the riverbed, necessary for the quantification of natural riverbed processes (flow, erosion, transport);
  • Carrying out geological/sedimentological, geophysical (bathymetric, seismo-acoustic, ADP, etc.), topographic, geodetic and biological measurements and observations in areas of interest (e.g. thresholds, as critical areas for navigation, confluences, spillways, etc.), in order to understand the hydrodynamic and sedimentological mechanisms, with direct effects on the evolution of the river;
  • Determining the main categories of pollutants in the Danube and its main tributaries, in order to know their impact on the characteristic ecosystems;
