Department profile

• • Management of GeoEcoMar`s professional equipments and devices;
• • Maintenance, calibration and repairing of scientific equipments;
• • Fulfillment of maintenance duties and procedures needed for compliance with the Romanian Legal Metrology Laboratories regulations for scientific equipments;
• • Fulfillment of specific tasks and procedures necessary for the enforcement of the ISO 9001: 2000 Quality Management System;
• • Logistic support for acquisition of specific equipments;
• • Support in the elaboration of bidding documents needed for the purchase of new research equipments;
• • Technical assistance for field campaigns and scientific cruises;
• • Conduct the activity of data acquisition at the Mangalia Center for Studying of Waves Energy;

Equipments

• Test and measurement instruments: oscilloscope, digital multimeter, frequency-meter, signal generator, DC power supply, etc;
• Tools and devices for simple mechanical interventions.

Main activities

• Current repairs of research equipments (such as: EDO and CHIRP sonar systems);
• Manufacturing of specific devices (ex. Sustaining tools for bathymetry measurement devices, support for sediment sampling, etc.);
• Maintenance of geophysical (seismo-acoustics, bathymetry and geo-magnetic) instruments;
• Acquisition of dedicated devices (i.e. GPS antennas, sensors, electronic components and mechanical parts,etc);

Department capabilities

• Design and manufacture of new equipments, devices and tools dedicated to marine researches.
